Forever in our hearts
Louise was a determined, independent, free-spirited young woman eager to take on the world, explore its wonders, live fully, and conquer every challenge. She had an enormous heart, especially for animals and her family.
Born on May 16, 2006, in Wiesbaden, Germany, Louise was the oldest of two children in a military family. Her mother always said she was the most beautiful baby with mesmerizing blue eyes. Louise spent much of her childhood on military bases, quickly making friends and exploring new places, sparking her passion for travel.
Her love for horses began in South Carolina where she volunteered and rode at a small-town boarding stable. This experience lead her into a life filled with trail rides, playdays and rodeos. The beach became her favored retreat after numerous coastal trips and an ocean kayaking adventure to a secluded island.
In 2016, Whitney, Texas became her home following her father’s retirement. One of her proudest achievements that year, alongside her father, was completing the Red Stegall Cowboy Gathering 100mile horseback ride from Jacksboro to Fort Worth. During her years in Whitney, Louise developed deep roots in the community, participating in various activities including youth group, 4-H, equine events, summer camps, various volunteer opportunities and homeschool groups.
During her teenage years, Louise cherished a memorable trip to Europe with her father. They explored her birth country, the maternity ward she was born, her first home, and a nearby American military base. She also fulfilled a dream by visiting Paris, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.
Louise dedicated hundreds of hours to volunteering at the Pot O’ Gold Thrift Store in Clifton, Texas, starting at the age of eleven. Her desire to serve extended to other community services, including the Lake Whitney Senior Center, Clifton Mobile Food Pantry, Lake Whitney Public Library, Wreaths Across America and 40 Days for Life.
Academically driven, Louise completed high school early while taking classes at Hill College. She was just a few classes shy of completing her GS Associate of Science STEM degree. Her ambition was to become a K9 officer in either the civilian or military sector.
After graduating in May of 2023, and with travel in sight, Louise planned and funded her first solo trip to visit family. She drove herself to the DFW airport and flew to Pennsylvania marking the start of her travel dreams. She also saved up for a trip to Korea, continuing her journey towards exploring the world.
In her free time, Louise enjoyed hanging out with friends, treating her brother to sushi, exploring Asian communities and cuisine in metropolitan areas, shopping, listening to K-pop, collecting BTS memorabilia, caring for her many cats, and watching AFV.
Louise had a wide range of interests, including crafting, baking, cooking, photography and even running her own YouTube channel. Her hobbies also included shopping, horseback riding, gaming, listening to music, reading, and singing. She loved swimming at the lake and beach, writing, collecting books, and thrifting. Her passion for travel was evident from her frequent moves between military stations and cross-country road trips with her family, which gave her a unique and adventurous outlook on life. Louise was also self-taught in German, even translating a German children's book. She was a writer, creating short stories and documenting her life and dreams.
Louise’s life, though short, was filled with love, service, and adventure. Her dedication to her community, academic achievements, and dreams of a future in law enforcement left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
On December 10, 2023, a heartbreaking tragedy occurred when Louise’s life was senselessly taken in a suspected road rage incident on her way to Galveston Island from Whitney. On her day off, she and her friends set out to enjoy the sunrise in Galveston. While passing through Houston, on the I45 Pierce Elevated southbound, a dark vehicle sped up beside her on the interstate and opened fire, injuring one of her friends and fatally wounding her. Even though Louise was critically injured with multiple gunshot wounds, she managed to steer her car to the side of the narrow interstate, ensuring her friends’ safety before passing away.
